From age 17, she has recorded and toured extensively with renowned artists such as George Duke, Billy Cob ham, Herbie Hancock, Lionel Richie, Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, Patti Labelle, Natalie Cole, Stevie Nicks, Don Was, and countless others, but to name a few.

 The Glamorous Life, (single and video) written, performed, and "directed" by Sheila E., released in the spring of 1984 and earned popular and critical acclaim. This single went on to receive multiple Grammy and American Music Award nominations, and won MTV's Best Video Award.  The Glamorous Life yielded a hit single in the title track.  After three months of sold out performances, in Europe and the United States, Sheila began touring as the opening act for Prince's 1984-85 sold out Purple Rain Tour, and began composing for her follow-up album.

 

Released in August of 1985, Romance 1600 with smash single, and “Love Bizarre".  A three-month engagement opening for Lionel Richie followed a headlining tour in the spring of ‘86.  Returning home, she began to work immediately on her third album entitled Sheila E..  Following with yet another smash single, "Hold Me", which went #1 on Billboard and had a fast growing international reputation.

 

Sheila E. is an advocate for, and continues to devote her talent and time to various charities such as; Super Bowl At Seau's for Breast Cancer Foundation, Pediatric Aids Foundation's, "For Our Children".  Her rendition of "Mary Had A Little Lamb" contributed to 6 million copies of CD's and videos sold worldwide.  Received raved reviews for her riveting performance at the A.P.L.A. (Aids Project Los Angeles) benefit with Barbara Streisand, Patty Labelle, Natalie Cole, Shirley McClane, and Liza Minelli. 

 

Performed on Gloria Estefan's smash hit album, "Mi Tierra" and at the 1996 Olympics. Taking the stage of the 35th Annual Academy Awards, Sheila performed with the infamous Placido Domingo and was featured in the "all girl" Grammy production opening number with Ellen Degeneris.  For A Celebration of America's Music benefiting the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz and hosted by Bill Cosby, she played with such talents as George Benson, Arturo Sandoval, Herbie Hancock, James Moody, and Jimmy Health in a special tribute to Dizzy Gillespie.  A riveting performance on "MTV Unplugged" with Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, performed on the soundtrack "Prince of Egypt", featuring Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. The Concert of The America's, where past and present Presidents and their families were in attendance, and appeared as "featured artist" with Jennifer Lopez on her promotional tour.  This year she will perform live in concert with the legendary Ringo Starr.

 

"The Magic Hour" featured Sheila E. as the first female bandleader on late night television, as well as creating and producing the late night show's theme song. 

 

As founder and president of HEAVEN PRODUCTIONS MUSIC, a music and television production company, Sheila’s company has involved herself as musical director and arranger of the 1999 (and '98) ALMA Awards, The 1998 WoW Awards, 1998 Gospel Music Association's Annual Event, co-hosted ABC's Countdown To the American Music Awards.

 

Recent CD release, SHEILA E. & THE E-TRAIN, titled "Writes Of Passage", is an enchanting combination of adult contemporary, funk and jazz.  Initially debuted on her web site, www.sheilae.com.  This year, Sheila is launching the “Lil Angel Bunny Foundation”, a charitable organization to assist abused and abandoned children.  In conjunction and association with TOCA & Kaman Music, the “Sheila E. Player’s Series” percussion line for children have been designed and developed and is now in music stores around the world.

 

Sheila E. is indeed a multi-faceted performer, producer, composer, instrumentalist, and humanitarian.  Her gifts have made her one of today's brightest talents...  and she continues to be one of our most treasured stars.
